Position Purpose & Summary
Briefly explain the general purpose of the position.
The FPA Analyst will provide action to a business group or within a group of analysts in an enterprise for activities that are value creation focused and forward looking such as providing the insight necessary to create and drive value. It includes analyzing data to provide insight into evaluating acquisition targets, products and customers. Additionally, this role will focus analysis and proposals on top line growth, cost of goods sold efficiencies and ways to continue to reduce SG&A. By relying on the Accounting & Finance organization to produce accurate and timely financial and management reports, this position provides analysis and insight on the direction the business should go. Proactively challenges the status quo. The FP&A is not responsible for data collection processes and reports. This is where an effective relationship with the Accounting and Finance teams is necessary.
The analyst roles will interact critically with the other FPA Lead and Group Director and may also act as point of contact to a commercial leader. Instances of this job will align within a large business group product line and also potentially across an enterprise. This role will have breadth across businesses and operate across countries (regional or sub regional) depending on the business grouping. Some will be global, again depending on the structure of the enterprise. Building strong relationships within the function and business including leadership teams will be critical for value creation opportunities. Critical skills in analysis, communication of a set of information and point of view, influencing, and challenging the staus quo are crticial.
Principal Accountabilities
60% Financial Planning & Analysis:
Customer management
Build and review discount structure for segments and key customers
Be responsible for segment and key customer’s profitability and performance management, deep dive analysis to support credit and discount decision
Support key customers in preparing and understanding financial performance and suggesting financial solutions
Be the finance point of contact for key customers
Financial Management
Annual budget by segments, species, key customers, RBLs
Gap analysis of actual vs. budget/forecast
Own the P&L for segments, species, key customers
Discount and Promotion Management
Coordinate with A&R team to build and review discount and promotion process
Support CDs on effective discount and promotion mechanism by species, segments and key customers
Work with RBLs on return on investment of special support/ target discount
Evaluate total discount and promotion to improve effectiveness
Pricing Analysis
Net pricing analysis by products, customers vs. competitors
Analyze and recommend pricing based on internal cost structure and market condition
Competitors’ financial analysis
Commercial Projects
Partner with business teams to build business cases for new investment proposals
Follow up and evaluate financial KPI results
20% Process Improvement:
Develop analytics and reports and support the team in driving consistent use of business support tools (JDE/SAP).
Utilize and improve existing frameworks and reports to enhance the analytical environment in operations.
Establish new key performance metrics where appropriate
20% Ad-hoc Project Support:
Provide analytical support for the Business Segment/Group FP&A activity
Active participation in various business finance initiatives and other duties as assigned
